(too old to reply)

Every time I download the .zip and open it there are two .exe's in it. One
ET.exe and a ETDED.exe No matter what neither of them work when executed.
It says some crap about missing files and can't update. I am running version
2.06

Any ideas?

Thanks...........Coyote

Do you mean 2.60b? And that you're running 2.60 already? If you really are
running 2.06, and not 2.60, then that's your problem - you're way out of
date and that b update patch is not going to work. If you're running 2.60
already, the you just need extract the two .exes into the ET installation
folder - they are not installers, they are replacement executables to
overwrite the version 2.60 .exes.

Oh yeah, and this patch is not "new" - it's 6 months old!

*OHHHHH :) LOL

Yes I meant 2.60, which I am updated to. We rotate between several games
(BF1942-DC-BFVnam-BF2-BF2142-CS:S-E.T.) so by the time we got back around to
E.T. the "newest" update was out (2.60b).

Thanks for the help Dan.

Did dropping the exes into the folder work then?

I'm still wondering why I still have this newsgroup in my OE list, I guess I
never got around to removing it. I haven't played online games in a long
long time - not since the release day of DesertCombat Final 1.0 that used my
server for all the last minute testing (the "official" test servers were
unavailable, and as I was one of the few DC testers with my own server I
offered it for use). 18 months of DC/DCF testing sort of killed my need for
online gaming ...

This weekend will see my return to online gaming, but yet again as a
tester - a good friend of mine left work some time ago to start his own
games development company, and their first game is up for beta testing this
weekend to see how the network code holds out. It'll be a weekend of
shouting "Ooar!", "Aye aye cap'n", and "Avast ye shipmates!", I'm sure my
wife will be ignoring me for a few hours at a time while I plunder the seven
seas. More info at http://www.stickmanstudios.co.uk/buccaneer.html :D

*LOL, I actually just re-added this group to ask my question. I really miss
the DC days. I still prefer to play it over BF2.

*I like the way this looks from the screen shots. What kind of game play
will this be, like "Generals" (Command & Conquer)?

The multiplayer game will be up to 8 ships per side (Bucanneers vs Corsairs)
in a variety of island layouts, with capture the flag and deathmatch style
games. Different ship types have different ammo loadouts and different
speeds (heavier ships have more ammo, and vice versa), and there will be
bonus scoring items like kidnapping the Duchess or finding Willy. Control is
pretty simple - WSAD (configurable) for forward/back and rudder left/right,
and the mouse to rotate the camera around the ship and the two mouse buttons
to fire (left button for port broadside, right button for starboard).
Shooting up the opposition villages gains team points too - great fun seeing
the little huts going up in flames :)

Pretty sure it's all ship based, but a number of features have been left out
of the test version and getting hold of my friends to get more info is a
pita right now due to all the work they're putting in to add new features,
optimise the internet player code, and fix the bugs that are popping up in
the current test.
