Sorry for the binary but I don't like having to register with a site to get files (like I had too for this) and I'm sure some of you dont either.

Well, most servers don't accept binaries in text-only groups so your posting
will not propagate. Anyway, here's a link to the developers site:
http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/wolfbot/

and a link to download without registration:
http://www.herrks-base.de/downloads/wolfbot-1[1].0.zip

What is it?

WolfBot is an artificial intelligence bot for the popular multiplayer game
Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
An early first version of the bot has just been released and can be
downloaded from the download section.
The linux version is not yet available but it should be ready in a week or
so.

Seems like i'll have to wait a bit to try it out. Just wondering if it will
be able to connect to non-local servers as well without being identified
(which might not be such a good thing).

greetings

The bots are all identified by [BOT] before their names. While you can
edit the names you cannot remove the [BOT] (although you could
probably hex-edit it if you tried).

Theres a few screenshots on www.happypenguinforum.com . At the moment
it only works for a few maps but it looks like it won't be too hard to
add more as each map just needs waypoints associated with it for the
bots to follow.

Well if your asking what a bot is, its a computer controlled
character for multiplayer games (in this case). If you want to see
what multiplayer RTCW is like without playing against 'real' players
you could start a server and fill it with bots and play against them.

They aren't the smartest things but I guarantee they will kill you
from time to time.

If you're asking what is the point in playing against bots (or with
bots) when you could be playing with real people than I'd say I find
it pretty cool that someone can infuse something with AI. It's
interesting to watch them in action and it's great for making fun of
others with screenshots of them being killed by a gang of bots.

They could also be used to fill up a server that uses a large map and
that isn't much fun too play when there is only 20 real people playing
a 64 player map.

Anyway that's my 2 cents.....

alt.binaries.sitting-ducks.mom is my absolute fav!

ever heard of a website?
hmmm, I've _heard_ of them, yes... I've also heard of email address'
being sold by websites that require registration. That's a bad thing.

ever heard of usenet etiquette?
Yes, hence the "Sorry". If you missed it and you feel my post
inconvenienced you in any way - Sorry.

So I've harmed no one. The binary got stripped at the first server
that caught it. Only harm was maybe someone who would have wanted it
was disappointed.

Can't say I have.

Hang on , I'll check it out

" Sorry, Mailinator is currently down for an update. "

Yeah , great site (short for website) what does it do when it's up?

Yeah , great site (short for website) what does it do when it's up?
It lets you create emails "on the fly" (***@mailinator.com) that you
can then go to the site and check. The catch is that anyone can read it, (if
they guess the name you use) and it only lasts a few hours. It is perfect for
sites that require email confirmation.

If you want something a bit more sophisticated, try www.spamgourmet.com You
need to sign up, but once you do you can create email addresses that will
work up to 20 times. They forward a certain number of them to you (you
specify) and kill all subsequent messages.

Ahh, I see! That's actually really cool, thanks for the info. Very
useful.
